Stephen, I think you are correct. I was leaving the p/f out during the day to minimize wear on the gasket, but it is probably best to have it loosely inserted. I will continue to take it out overnight, however.
I've purchased the insulation in order to wrap the boiler, but since I have a tank version, it seems to me it is a bit of a pain. Since I will be moving soon, I may use the relocation to take the time to do a proper job. Not sure yet.
